Chum salmon (Oncorhynchus keta) have the widest distribution of any of the Pacific Salmon. Chum salmon are the most abundant commercially harvested salmon species in the arctic, northwestern, and interior Alaska, but are of relatively less importance in other areas of the state. It may also be known as Dog salmon or Keta salmon, and is often marketed under the name Silverbrite salmon.

FISHING SEASON

May through December. Chum Salmon is caught on the West Coast of North America and in Russian waters.

SENSORY CHARACTERISTICS
